Hello again everyone,
Here are even more delicious tidbits about what's happening on the product front.
Keyhole Quick-Release Clamp
Way back in 2020 we announced a clamp as one of our first Kickstarter campaign stretch goals. You may remember this:
To demonstrate the clamp we made a 3D printed version and used it on a skateboard rig:
You can find that skateboard rig video on our YouTube channel: https://youtu.be/FO2XguLVz9Y
You can also find both of those projects on Hackaday.io, complete with 3D printer files. You can make one of your own!
The clamp is so useful it has now become the central mount on our slider rig. This means you can quick-release the camera payload without disturbing the motion components attached to the slider.
Well, there's been even more progress, we've machined the first metal prototype on the trusty CNC machine. Here's a little visual record of its progress:
And here are the two main pieces done, being mounted to the slider plate:
There's still a bit more tweaking to be done. For instance, the wedge angles are a little too steep for a really secure lock. This will mean going back to the model, correcting that angle and hopefully machining the next prototype today.
Once done, the first batch of the finished clamps will be used for the demo rigs we're sending out to reviewers in the near future.
Thanks
That's all for this one. Stay creative and make sure to get in touch if you have any questions, want more details, want to discuss your motion projects, or anything. Just send us an email.
